Record Attempt

In 1999 a British team led by Richard Brown made an attempt at the 2 wheel World Land Speed Record at the famous Bonneville Salt Flats. This attempt culminated in the Fastest one way speed ever recorded by the world governing body the FIM. The BBC made a 50 minute documentary covering the attempt, a copy of which can be made available to potential sponsors on request.

For 7 years Richards 1999 fastest one way run remained unbeaten, however in 2006, a year that provided some of the best conditions at Bonneville for over 20 years, two American teams, one led by Dennis Manning & the other led by Mike Akatiff broke the record and went faster than Richard.

During this period between 99-06, Richard was keen to focus on other projects with the knowledge that he was the “Fastest” on two wheels. However his other current project is now at a progressed stage allowing time to dedicate to a new LSR project, JET REACTION is forging ahead with CAD design & CFD complete and engineering work now well advanced with low speed testing now even underway !

Venue : Testing, + a British land speed record attempt will be made in the UK at air strips, for the World LSR attempt the team will select a dry lake bed, (one of the main difficulties facing most teams is their need for a 10+ mile course) JET REACTION will have very rapid acceleration therefore only needing a 7.5 mile course so our choice of locations is much wider. Likely options such as Bonneville or Verneukpan in South Africa will be considered depending on logistics at the time.
